DRESSMAKING CLUB – ST OLIVER PLUNKETT NS
Starts: Monday 11th May, 2:45 - 4:15 pm
Dates: Mon 11/05, 25/05, 08/06, 15/06 – 4-week pilot
Who: 1st to 6th class
Main project: A summer-tiered skirt your child can make and wear all summer. If your child prefers to work on smaller accessories instead (scrunchies, bags...), we can accommodate that.
What we provide: Sewing machines, thread, elastic, scissors, pins, and a flat quarter material for small practice projects.
What to bring: For the construction garment project, please bring your chosen cotton or lightweight fabric:
1 meter for a knee-length or mini-skirt.
1.5 - 2 meters for a longer skirt.
Week 1. Fundamental sewing machine set-up and safe operation. Body measurements, pattern drafting, cutting, and garment construction.
Week 2. Pinning methods and sewing.
Week 3. Sewing.
Week 4. Finishing techniques, such as hems, edge finishes, and closures.
By the end of week 4, your skirt will be finished and ready to wear this summer!
